AAA Auto Insurance Company Review
American Automotive Association was founded on March 4, 1902 as a non-profit organization. With the new pavement roads soon formed, the residents of the United States at the start of the century definitely needed a hand when it came to automobile services. As first there were only 1000 chartered members but the company would see an increase in memberships in the upcoming years after its foundation. It is important to note that the organization was founded when different local and regional offices came together, meaning that members belong to individual clubs (usually divided into city or states) and they would get their benefits for their respective entity. However, they would also be covered anywhere that AAA was available because the other offices arranged reciprocal services between all the AAA clubs established at that time.
Although the company is mostly known for their car services (towing), they offer a variety of things that consumers need nowadays. Some of the coverage offered by AAA includes life insurance, health insurance, homeowners insurance and related travel services (reservations, car rentals, cruises, directions to and from a destination, maps, etc). The company has grown so much over these 105 years of existence that it has affiliates in the countries of Canada and the United Kingdom as well and they will keep growing assuming that more of the population gains knowledge of all the things being offered.
Automobile insurance coverage has been part of the firm for 70 years now and they are proud to keep serving the United States consumers. "Triple A" as many people call the company, has had a long history of reliable and excellent customer service and this is just one of the many reasons that people select this company for themselves and their families. Their main website can be a little troubling for some people that are not used to the Internet because it has incredible amounts of information due to the fact that the company offers a gigantic array of services.
Being a member of the American Automotive Association doesn't only guarantee you car insurance of your choice, but they also go as far as giving different coverage options due to the diverse population of the country. AAA focuses on three types of automotive insurance coverage: protection for others and their property, protection for yourself and any passengers you might have with you at the time of an accident, and protection for your assets. It is also good to mention that although the website does not give a list of possible discounts that AAA offers their members, it is always good to double check to see if the company offers any. Most people that forget or simply just don't bother to ask end up spending hundreds and even thousands of dollars that they can be saving.
Apart from the normal automobile insurance coverage that the American Automotive Association offers, a member is given many more services. One of them includes your car's battery and it allows you to have it checked, and even replaced at an approved AAA battery center. Another great service provider to the member is the Approved Auto Repair (APR) in case of any damage and with it the Vehicle Inspection Program (VIP) is included; which allows certified mechanics to inspect your vehicle thoroughly.
As said before in the article if you get lost or simply want to be prepared for a trip, AAA offers you maps, trip books, hotel directories and sometimes even discounted fares that permit a customer save some money; and most importantly ensure the member that they will get to the destination with no problems. Last but not least this great company offers road side assistance for any particular reason. This was the basis in which the company first opened, but they have improved tremendously from those days. They now offer vehicle towing up to 100 miles, jump starting, emergency tire changing, giving you gasoline if you unexpectedly run out of gas and helping you recover a key left inside the vehicle.
AIG American General Auto Insurance Company Review
AIG/American General was started in China (specifically Shanghai) by a man named Edwin Cornelius Vander Starr and it quickly spread out across Latin America, Asia, Europe and a large quantity of Middle Eastern countries. In 1962 the company still hadn't made it big in the United States, so Vander Starr took a risk and allowed a man named Hank Greenberg to be in charge of the United States' holdings that the company had. This came to be a significant risk because the company started spreading out the country in a matter of years because the focus changed from selling insurance from agents to independent workers. It is also of note to mention that the company now is the fourth largest company in the world according to the 2006 ratings of the Global Forbes 2000 List.
AIG has one of the largest networks across the globe with 97,000 employees and 714,000 agents. This is important at the time of settling claims and handling any changes to the policy a customer wants to make. They offer several services to individuals across the United States including accident and health insurance, automobile insurance, life insurance, travel insurance and retirement services. The website is built in a way in which the customer can easily access all its features, a bad thing however is that not enough focus is paid in regards to automobile insurance. Perhaps the reason for this is that they have so many more services to cover since they don't only insure individuals, but also businesses, financial professionals and insurance professionals.
The AIG auto insurance section of their website does however allow you to pick which state you would like a quote in (because prices and insurance minimums vary by state) and gives the customer a chance to review some of the most frequently asked questions about car insurance. It also offers tools such as a glossary and an automobile insurance guide; which basically eases the process and stress of a potential member and makes them understand the industry a little bit more.
With AIG being a huge company with worldwide presence, it is important for a potential member to feel at home. Because of this, the insurance company gives customers a list of reasons in their online page that builds up their credibility and lean customers toward choosing them. One of the main reasons mentioned is that they offer a wide array of coverage and deductible options. This is good because the population of the U.S. is nowadays more diverse than ever, and they can attract people from every race and nationality.
There are a number of different AIG car insurance discounts given to their policyholders. They take pride in this because after all: Who doesn't enjoy the idea of saving money? Some of the discounts given by AIG include but are not limited to multiple-vehicle policies, airbags, anti-lock brakes, defensive driver course, senior accident prevention course, good students and paid in full policies. Other reasons for selecting them over other insurance companies include their security and privacy, fast and accurate claims service at the time of an accident and flexible paying options.
Unitrin Direct Auto Insurance Company Review
Ever since Unitrin's birth they have been trying to establish their position as one of the best car insurance companies for the average American and nowadays they offer automobile, life, health, casualty and property insurance to individuals and groups. They are rated by A.M. Best in the top 100 largest insurance providers in the United States and have placed as high as number 28 among its competitors. The company continues to grow and many experts predict that the nation will be seeing more of Unitrin as time goes by. The company has achieved many goals that other companies haven't done in their entire lives and with only 17 years of existence, Unitrin Incorporated has been steadily rising to the top.
Although the company itself was created in 1990, the automobile insurance branch of Unitrin was created only until 2002. This happened when Unitrin Incorporated along with Kempner combined to give birth to Unitrin Direct Auto Insurance Company. They offer their services in 25 states in the United States and they are predicted to expand fully through out the country if they continue to excel in what they are doing. Their website is designed to improve the knowledge of customers for this relatively new company in the automobile insurance field and to enhance their knowledge when it comes to the car insurance business in the United States.
Reasons for the great success of Unitrin Direct Automobile Insurance Company include their very competitive pricing. Their channels of distribution and marketing efforts have come a long way to having potential customers notice their coverage and services. Although pricing for automobile insurance varies by state due to the fact that state minimum requirements are all different and some states have more rural population than others (which minimizes the accident and theft rate), Unitrin's main goal is to save a potential customer 20% or more of the price they are paying for automobile insurance with any other car insurance provider.
Another reason that Unitrin has been so successful in attracting some of the American automobile insurance customers has been their services. In their main website they let the customer know that price is not everything they need to look at when shopping for car insurance. Before looking at price they need to trust the company that they are willing to do research on and Unitrin prides in the fact that they are a branch of Unitrin Direct, which is rated A by A.M. Best, has an estimated 6 million policyholders and most important have over 9 billion dollars in assets. It is important for a customer to know that their automobile insurance company is well financially, in order for them to feel secure and trust the company protecting their "risk" when out driving. Last but not least it is important to talk about Unitrin's great customer service, one of the main reasons they have been doing so good up to date. They have great and friendly customer service representatives and they also train their claim representatives to help customers at all times.
How to Find Cheap Arizona High Risk Car Insurance Rates
In the Arizona the number of vehicles on the roads keeps increasing, and with it the number of accidents and traffic citations keep going up. Americans have come increasingly aware that the higher number of autos on the road means higher auto insurance premiums and a higher likelihood of accidents. With the accident rates going up and perhaps the number of yearly accidents increasing, the probability of what is called a "high risk" driver applying for automobile insurance is not that slim. It is true that drivers that have had a history of traffic citations and automobile accidents have a harder time finding cheap automobile insurance; however it is important to understand that with a little bit of effort and understanding of the auto insurance industry; finding a low cost automobile insurance policy is possible.
The reason that Arizona car insurance companies charge these individuals more per premium than other drivers is because the "risk" of insuring them is greater. Auto insurance quotes are based on the risk given to auto insurance companies by their customers. This means that if you have a clean record with no accidents or tickets for quote a while; you will be given a lower rate simply because you offer less risk. On the other hand, a person that constantly makes mistakes while driving that result in citations or that simply does not know how to drive defensively will represent a higher probability of wrecks for the company; which in turn may drive the yearly rate sky high! If you are worried that you may be termed a high risk driver then don't panic because there are steps that you can take to find a cheap policy.
Just like any other customer that is buying Arizona automobile insurance, it is extremely important for a "high risk" driver to shop around. If they are going to shop for insurance through the Internet, perhaps the best thing would be to visit a comparison website. Comparison websites allow you to fill out your information only once and they will give you insurance quotes for a variety of companies.
You will also have the option of visiting your independent local agencies in person if you so choose. This will allow you in interacting with the agents better and asking them questions about how high your rate will be if you have made a few "mistakes" in the past. They will guide you through the process and let your know how much would the quote be. Also, make sure to ask what could be some things that will lower your rate even after reading the tips that follow. Do this just to make sure that you have done everything in your power to get a cheap policy.
Two things that have to do with your coverage that will for sure lower the cost of your policy even if you have had a history of tickets and accidents; would be to raise your deductible and drop coverage that you don't need. The first thing you need to do before trying to raise your deductible will be to see if you can afford it in case of an accident. If you can afford it then raise it as much as you like (consider that one of the best deductibles is $500 because it balances out pretty good). A higher deductible will mean more out of pocket dollars that will come out of your wallet after an accident, but it will also mean that the insurance company won't have to pay as much and therefore they would lower your monthly premiums.
The other thing you can do in order to get cheaper insurance would be to drop some of the coverage that you don't need. Usually if your car is considerably old you should drop your collision and comprehensive coverage (only if you can afford to that is), because that can save you a HUGE amount of money. Another thing worth mentioning that many people are doing is dropping the medical part of their AZ automobile insurance policy. If you have independent health insurance there is no need to have it through your auto insurance company, so just drop it and save some money in the process.
It is also important for you to ask for discounts. Although you will not be selected for any discounts involving a good driving record, there are many others that can do you good. One of them for example is the safety feature discount that allows drivers with alarms, automatic seatbelts, anti-lock brakes, air bags and other stuff to same significant amounts of money. You could even go as far as to take a defensive driving course given to you by the AZ Department of Motor Vehicles or any other traffic school. It is worth mentioning that nowadays more insurance companies are starting to give defensive driving courses to people that want to save money on car insurance.
Last but not least, try to apply for a low mileage discount. The less time on the road means a decrease in the probability of an accident so insurance companies will definitely give you a good discount for this one. Discounts can definitely help you save significant amounts of money when it comes to automobile insurance, especially if you are a "high risk" driver.
As you can see "high risk" drivers can save money too when it comes down to getting a cheap Arizona high risk auto insurance quote. It is important to shop around and do everything possible in order to start off with the right foot and the best price in the market. Make sure you think about your coverage and keep in mind the things that will allow you to save money when time comes to getting a quote.

How to Get Cheap Car Insurance Quotes
How to Find the Cheapest Michigan Auto Insurance Policy - Key Michigan Car Insurance Discounts
Finding a cheap Michigan auto insurance policy is of the utmost importance for many residents of Michigan. After all, why pay more for your car insurance then you need to?
In fact , automobile insurance has become a main issue for many residents of not just Michigan but the entire United States. This may be to the fact that people in this country have become tired of relying in public transportation in some cities across America and have now come to realize that cars are truly a necessity.
With these changes in the public perspective, automobile insurance companies have seen an increase in customers in the last couple of years. Big cities give companies the best rates, because they can charge more. The state of Michigan is one of those states in which rates vary immensely because of the differences between cities and the rural population.
Michigan itself has an estimated 10,095,643 million people according to the U.S. Census Bureau, a slight change of 1.6% from 2005. For the people in Michigan it's good that the population hasn't grown that much, simply because the less people on the road; the less the risk of accidents.
Before trying to get cheap auto insurance policies in the state of Michigan it is important to understand the regulations and minimum requirements for automobile insurance in the state. Any person that wants to drive a car in the state of Michigan has to obtain what is called a 20/40/10 coverage. This means that if you are a resident of the state and want to be able to drive you will first have to get a policy that covers $20,000 in bodily injury liability per person, $40,000 in bodily injury liability total per accident and $10,000 property damage liability per accident.
It is important to highlight that this is the minimum coverage that a driver can have, for this reason is the cheapest thing in the market. Another important point to mention is that the state does not require personal injury protection coverage (covers yourself in case of injury during an accident), but most people acquire it because they want to be medically covered if they get injured in a crash.
As said before the minimum coverage is the cheapest option that a person has when it comes to buying auto insurance in Michigan. However, for people that are leasing a car or that are still making payments on a vehicle it is required to have collision coverage and comprehensive coverage. These people can achieve the goal of low cost MI car insurance through other means. One of the options these people have is to raise their deductible to something higher and of course, that they can afford. The higher the deductible is, the higher the out of pocket costs during an accident. This means that although you will have to pay more when you get in a wreck, the monthly payments will be less because of that.
Another way for Michigan residents to find the cheapest Michigan automobile insurance policy is to simply go shop around. Although some people don't have enough time, they can do so from the comfort of their own home. On the Internet they will be able to go to the company's website and some even give you big rebates if you enroll online.
On the other hand if you are planning on going around your local auto insurance agencies, then you have all the tools needed to succeed. Be sure to visit three or more local agencies and ask for every single policy and their prices. Always remember that agents can be the key to the low cost MI car insurance policy that will make room in your budget for vacations, big screen TV's, and plenty of other things that are much more fun to purchase than a boring auto insurance policy.
Last but not least you can opt for just bundling all of your Michigan insurance policies together or by asking for discounts when getting quotes. When you bundle insurances together this means that you will have your home, life, health, auto or casualty insurances all under one provider. With the increase in insurance agencies, many of them have actually started to offer more services. This bundling of your Michigan auto insurance policy with your Michigan homeowners insurance policy for example is called the "multiple lines" discount so be sure and ask your MI auto insurance broker for details.
Also, make sure you ask every company that you come across about discounts in the state. Although they may vary from company to company, most providers will offer a discount for people that have good driver records. If you have been driving for more than three years and you don't have any citations of accidents accounted for, you will be able to save A LOT of money!! Other discounts include the safety features discount (for air bags, alarms, anti lock brakes, etc), good student discount, defensive driver discount, and many others.
Buying and Running a Car - As Turbulent As the Wind
The wind was gusting as I put the washing out. Slightly humid, but dry enough to be sure that the laundry would be dried far quicker than a tumble dryer could do the job. This wind wasn't really for much else apart from drying clothes. Back indoors I picked up the weekend's post. Amongst the letters were adverts from two different car insurance companies. Before throwing them in the recycling I read the blurb to make sure there wasn't anything free with them, like a de-icer or tax disc holder, even though I need neither of the two. All I really need is a decent quote and a good car insurance policy.
With petrol rather pricey at the moment I thought it would be a good idea to use the scooter to drive to the coast. This silly wind, only good enough for drying clothes. Despite the warmth, there weren't many sailing boats out to sea. Even the birds weren't soaring about, what with the sudden gusts and then sudden calm proving too much of a hassle probably for most things to do with using the wind.
Walking a well trodden coast path I thought a bit more about whether to get a new car this year or MOT the old one. When I say new car I mean new to me, as this potential new car will be but another 10 year old at least runabout. Fortunately my car insurance comes up for renewal the same time as the MOT and tax.
Do I sell the car just before the end of the MOT? That's hard to do but at least you don't have the hassle of taking it for an MOT then it failing and being too expensive to repair and then sell on. Or I could scrap it before the MOT ends. What if I MOT'd it then it passed and was good for another year?
Too many options when you're on a budget that seems to take too much time to decide upon. Maybe I could just go without a car altogether. No. No way. I live in the countryside and even with a motorbike that would be impractical.
I could always just buy another car now if I see a good one, SORN it then garage it and see what happens with the old car at the MOT.
This gusty, unpredictable wind seemed to match my car choosing dilemma. At least car insurance was easy, thanks to all the online comparison sites and companies that have car insurance web sites.
I could even get a quote on a potential new car, or choose a make and model of car right now and get a car insurance quote for it online. That would help me decide on what car to buy. I don't mind so much being on a budget and not able to afford a new car when choosing car insurance is this easy.
San Antonio Auto Insurance - How to Find the Cheapest San Antonio Car Insurance Rates
You are a resident of San Antonio that just purchased a car for yourself and now have to deal with the whole insurance issue - or maybe you have had your vehicle for a while now but your 6 month San Antonio car insurance policy renewal is coming up and you need to shop around for the best rate. Finding cheap San Antonio car insurance is certainly possible. All it takes is just a little bit of research and a little bit of know how and you can be well on your way to finding the cheapest San Antonio auto insurance policy around.
With an estimated population of 1,214,725, San Antonio is easily one of the biggest cities in Texas and one of the most traffic congested cities in the state. Maybe one of the most incredible things about this great city is that the population growth in the last few years has been that of 5.5 percent (as revealed by the United States Census Bureau) and this in turn has altered the rates of automobile insurance in the state.
It can be a little uncomfortable for a first time driver to go through the whole insurance process, especially because it can be a little confusing for them to figure out which insurance company is the right one. The most important thing to understand about automobile insurance in the state of Texas is that all cars, regardless of whether they are in working condition should be covered. The state of Texas also has minimum requirements for insurance coverage and each driver should be aware of what they are even though the auto insurance company will never cover you for less than the minimum standards.
San Antonio, like any other big city in the United States will have higher premiums than any other rural part or less populated city in the state of Texas. It is precisely because of this that a customer must be aware and informed about every possible insurance company before deciding to sign an agreement with one.
One thing you can do if you are willing to spend some time searching (which by the way might turn out to be better because the more time to shop the better the rate you will find) is to go out and visit your local San Antonio automobile insurance agencies. If you choose this method however, you will only be able to focus on a certain amount of insurance companies (maybe about 5 or 6).
The good thing about this plan is that you will have face to face contact with those agencies that you end up choosing and they will take you way more seriously. It is important to remind the customer not to go along with the first insurance offer that it's given to them by a company. The best thing to do is to go out and search for a lower price because if there is a company with a lower rate and offering a better service you will definitely want to take their offer.
A great thing to work with in this face to face situations, are the travel agents in the respective companies. They are definitely that golden key that can bring you low-cost San Antonio automobile insurance. Most agents will go above and beyond to promote their company thus lowering rates as much as they can in order to please their customer so they sign with them. Use this to your advantage and try to get deals that you wouldn't get otherwise.
The key to finding affordable automobile insurance in San Antonio is to be patient. In a big city there can be hundreds of car insurance companies ready to offer their services and rates to anyone that appears in their front door. Purchasing insurance in like searching for a car, you must be patient and research everything about the company and services.
Traffic Tickets, Accidents, DUI, and Their Affect on Your Car Insurance Rates
How much will a traffic ticket, an accident, or a DUI charge really cost you in car insurance premiums? While most accidents in an of themselves are reason enough for a blood pressure increase it can often seem that those who get into an accident or receive a traffic ticket are hit with the "double whammy" of also seeing an increase in their car insurance rates. Is there anything that one can do to keep their car insurance rates low even after they receive a traffic ticket, get a DUI charge, or get into an accident?
The cost of car insurance is something most Americans have to deal with on a regular basis. Every month every single American that owns a car and thus has automobile insurance coverage receives a bill with the premium one must pay each month. Exceptions are seen however, by those people that have the money and decide to pay the whole year up front when they enroll or continue their coverage.
There are many things that can raise your car insurance rate and because of this is always better to be informed on these rate raising menaces. One of the most important things for an insured driver to do, if they want to lower their rates with time; is to keep their driving record clean from any infractions. If you for any reason get a traffic violation you won't only have to pay the ticket, but in some instances you will have to pay more monthly than what you were paying before.
Usually automobile insurance companies understand when dealing with the cause of the ticket. After all, they are drivers too and like any other driver they are at risks for mistakes. It is because of this reason that most insurance companies won't penalize you after you get a first time violation or a first time offense.
It's important to keep in mind however, that they can penalize you if your offense is significant. An example of this would be that a person with a first time offense of speeding 7 miles over the speed limit might not see a raise in premium in comparison to a person that gets penalized for reckless driving when they are street racing.
It is important to know that driving offenses are separated into categories. Point systems are used in each state in order to see how well the driver is behaving on the road. These types of systems work very well because they give a limit on the amount of points a driver can get within a year or 18 months. If the driver reaches that limit, their insurance can become suspended for a certain amount of time. It is this system that insurance companies base their driving record search on.
f you are close to having your license suspended due to the fact that you have had many traffic tickets, you will be classified as a "high risk driver". This means that you are more likely to be involved in an accident than other drivers because you don't follow the rules accordingly. Hence, the "high risk driver" label means that you will have to pay a significant higher rate to be covered with auto insurance. In fact, some auto insurance companies classify themselves as high risk car insurance companies and specialize in providing high risk auto insurance policies.
Usually after a significant infraction or an accumulation of two or more infractions, your automobile insurance rates could even double and stay up there for about three years. After the three years if you have had no other traffic violations the rates usually go down. It is important to know that automobile insurance companies do not check the traffic record of each driver often. They only do so about once a year, and some even do it only once every two years. This can be of your benefit because some might not even notice about your infraction until some significant time has gone by.
Before deciding on whether to raise your premiums insurance companies will look at the significance of the offense as said previously. Other than that they can focus their attention to the relationship a policy holder has with the insurance company. If the insured has been with the same company for years, he might be treated a little bit differently (he would have it a little easier) than a person who just decided to sign with them.
Keep in mind that large increases in your policy rates will most likely start after your second ticket and that speeding tickets can last on your record up to several years. Also worth mentioning is that a DUI can prove to be horrific for your car insurance rates and sometimes it can make you lose your policy or make you uninsurable.
All 50 states have some sort of class in order to get rid of points to your driving record. These classes can be taken either online or through your local Department of Motor Vehicles. The courses are not hard at all and you will go over the basics of driving and some other information found in the state's driving manual. At the end of class you will have to take a test to see what knowledge have you gained and if you pass you won't only be charged less on your fine; but the points will be erased from your record. Keep in mind that states give you a deadline in which you will have to complete the course and pay the fine, and some also give you a limit on the number of times you can take these courses for life.
As you can see from all the information given above, traffic tickets and automobile insurance don't go well together. If you want to pay less for auto insurance as time goes by then try not to make mistakes while driving that will result in a traffic violation. Remember that a good driver is not one that thinks he knows it all while out in the road, but one that follows the rules and it alert at all times when they are found behind the wheel of a car.

Young Drivers and Car Insurance
For many young drivers, the feeling you get when you pass your driving test can be a memory to treasure.
After months of nervously taking lessons, with many stalls and emergency stops along the way, many young drivers will no doubt experience a sense of elation upon passing their test after all that hard work.
Indeed, owning their first car can be a major step in the right direction for a young person. Finding affordable car insurance on the other hand can be a frustrating and expensive process.
As a new driver you are most likely to be, literally, taken for a ride by insurance companies because of the risk factor, and there are some that don't offer policies to drivers under the age of 21.
Whilst you may be a confident driver yourself, you're unfortunate to belong in a group which have a high accident rate.
There are many factors, such as age and driving experience, which can contribute to the cost of your car insurance premium. Young drivers can give themselves a good start into the world of insurance by taking a few precautions when it comes to aspects such as:- Choice of car - whilst it might not be the hotrod they expected, starting off in a vehicle with a smaller engine size could help convince insurance companies that they are indeed less of a risk.
- Parking - it may sound silly, but where you leave your car at night can make a difference in your car insurance quote. If the vehicle is left in a secure garage overnight rather than out on a town road this could reduce the risk of damage or theft - therefore leading to cheaper premiums.
- Further training - many young drivers opt to take a PassPlus course in order to try and reduce their premiums when starting out driving.
The PassPlus course is designed to teach young drivers more advanced driving techniques that might not have been covered in their lessons - such as driving in a variety of weather conditions, at night and on motorways.
However, simply taking the time to compare car insurance can help to save you money. Whilst it might be tempting to rush into the first policy that comes along, it may not necessarily be the cheapest one for you.
So, with a bit of research, awareness and vehicle care, young drivers can help themselves reduce their risk of an accident, as well as a lengthy (and expensive) insurance claim.

Don't Pay the Price For Monthly Payments
According to research from a comparison website, the car insurance industry scoops around £624million a year from customers that choose to pay monthly instead of annually. With typical premiums having risen by £19 in the last year alone, this is an expense drivers could do without.
So why does it cost more to pay monthly?
The majority of car insurance providers charge an annual percentage rate (APR) of around 23.9% - that's four times higher than the current best buy personal loan. While paying monthly instead of annually allows us to spread our payments and makes the overall cost more manageable, it adds close to £50 a year on to a typical premium.
For example, a Norwich Union policyholder would pay an average total of £792.05 by paying monthly on their car insurance with an APR of 24.90%. However, by paying annually this amount could be cut to £730 - a saving of £62.05. Indeed Norwich Union isn't the only example of a car insurance company that charges far more for monthly payments than a one-off annual payment. An AA insurance policyholder could see premiums fall by £68 if he chose to pay annually.
Of course paying upfront is too much for many consumers. So it's worth shopping around for a provider that doesn't add a charge for paying monthly, such as Virgin.
Cheap Car Insurance Whatever Your Age
It's a stereotypical image of a 40-year-old man to turn to a super-fast sports car to help soften the blow of a rapidly disappearing youth - the problem is this will normally mean higher car insurance premiums too.
New research from a car insurance comparison website has delved into the nation's driving habits - examining the cars that are most popular among certain age groups. According to the survey, a Porsche is the 'mid-life crisis car' of choice - its average owner is typically 39 years old.
However, the survey also highlighted that not all of us feel the need to splash the cash on our motoring when we hit middle age - Nissans, Hondas and Toyotas, generally perceived as safe and reliable cars, are most widely owned by drivers in their late 30s.
So how does this affect our car insurance premiums?
Well there's a lot to be said for avoiding the fast and flashy. Insurers look into the perceived purpose of a vehicle and if you're likely to be racing up the highway, your car insurance premiums will be higher as a result. A safer, more reliable car may not turn heads but it will leave you with more money in your pocket.
Contrary to popular belief however, green cars are not necessarily an insurance solution. The Toyota Prius - the world's most popular hybrid car - is most regularly driven by 50-year-olds. However, car insurance premiums for this vehicle can remain high as hybrid cars are comparatively new to the market and have heightened repair costs.
So if you want to make car insurance savings, the message is keep it small, and keep it conventional.
Further savings can be made by shopping for cheap car insurance with a car insurance comparison website, keeping your vehicle in a garage overnight and enhancing its security.

Premium Costs
Insurance provider, AA recently brought out a report, which looked into the different factors that effect the price of car insurance premiums, and found that the parking place for a car has significant effects on the price of the policy, particularly in city areas.
Cars that were kept in a garage, enabled drivers to save around seven per cent on their annual premiums; if they live in rural areas, while drivers who lived in inner city areas, saved a staggering 35 per cent on the car insurance if they parked their cars in a garage.
Due to the fact that parking in a garage is seen as a safer option than parking on a street, the premiums can be lower. Parking on a driveway was also said to be safer than parking on the streets, so the relating premiums could also be cheaper.
The study, conducted by AA Personal Loans, showed that 43 per cent of participants whose cars had been damaged were parked on a residential street at the time.
Some of the most dangerous places to keep a car, were said to be car parks, particularly multi-storey car parks. However, the research showed that drivers were twice as likely to have damage done to their cars on a residential street - were cars are said to be at a higher risk of being vandalised or damaged - as in a supermarket car park and more than three times more likely than if their car was kept in a multi-storey car park.
If a garage is not available as a parking option, a doctor's surgery, hospital car park, outside a school, in an airport car park or outside of a restaurant, were seen as some of the safest places to park a car. With only 3 per cent of vandalism happening to cars, that were parked in this area.
AA Insurance also recommended parking in car parks, which are well lit and have good use of security features such as CCTV. Furthermore simple precautions like folding in side mirrors in, can reduce the risk of being knocked off or damaged.
Mark Huggins of AA Personal Loans said: "A car is a serious investment and finding it vandalised is frustrating, heartbreaking and of course expensive. If you are paying for your car with a personal loan, the last thing you want is the added financial burden of sorting out repairs so it's worth thinking about where you park."
Mr Huggins also added: "If you are out and about, choose well-lit car parks preferably with good security such as CCTV even if it means a bit of a walk or a higher parking fee."
Research from car insurance provider, FancyAcar reported that, having an engine immobiliser or alarm fitted can decrease the risk of a car being stolen and thus lead to a lower car insurance premium.
Further to this it was found that the occupation of the policy holder also affected the price of premium. A person with a desk job, implies a low risk job, however a job that involved using your car would present a higher risk to insurance companies.
Other factors such as the policy holders marital status, the car's insurance group and type of insurance along with the number of miles that will be driven in a year, also affect the total cost of the car insurance policy.
